Grab your iced latte or whatever your beverage preference is and cozy up!! I’m about to spill my TOP wedding day photography tips just for you!!! I’ve photographed dozens of laid-back, love-filled weddings across Ontario and PEI. you can peek at some favs here.
Okay, let’s get real for a second… Wedding photography is SO much more than just clicking a button heh… It’s about holding onto the way your person looked at you during your vows. Your grandma’s hands wrapped around yours. The breeze catching your veil. The tears. The champagne toasts The magic.
It’s about telling your story exactly as it unfolded.
Here are some of my fave wedding day tips to help you feel more at ease and create space for the most beautiful, meaningful, real photos possible:
Golden Hour = GOLDEN Memories
Trust me on this…. plan your couple photos during golden hour (that dreamy light about an hour before sunset). It’s warm, glowy, and honestly? It makes everything feel like a movie. This is when the magic hits. Your faces are soft and glowy, the light kisses your skin just RIGHTTTT… it’s the golden moment you’ll hang on your walls forever.
Consider a First Look
First looks aren’t just for the ‘gram, they’re such a calming moment in the middle of all the excitement. Just the two of you (and me quietly nearby) soaking it all in before the day fully unfolds. It’s such a special way to settle your nerves and slow things down. And yes, the photos? They’re usually some of the most emotional and candid. This is also the perfect time to get all the main photos done before your ceremony so you can enjoy your cocktail hour! There is no right or wrong answer if you should do a first look or not… it’s your day so you do WHATEVER you want to do. 🤍
Unplugged Ceremony = Fully Present
I always recommend an unplugged ceremony. When guests are watching through their phones, they miss the real thing, and sometimes block the view too. Let your guests be fully present, and let me do the documenting. The result? Emotion-filled, distraction-free moments captured forever!!
Buffer Time = Breathing Room
Build in extra time between your big moments. This isn’t about rushing through a checklist. It’s about giving yourselves space to breathe… to soak in every second. Some of the most beautiful moments on your wedding day happen when no one’s looking and the timeline takes a little nap. I’ll be there for those, quietly capturing the in-between magic.
Communication is Everything
Let’s chat, dream, and plan your wedding day together. When we’re aligned on your vision, it gives you the freedom to just be, knowing I’ve got everything covered. You shouldn’t have to worry about the photos, you should just be living the day while I freeze it all for you.
